HOUSTON – The Rice men's tennis team will open its spring 2026 home slate against No. 8 Baylor at the George R. Brown Tennis Center on Monday.
The Owls are coming off the Battle in Borrow, where they went 1-2. Rice claimed all three doubles points and came out with a win over Utah but fell to Old Dominion and Middle Tennessee.
Rice is aiming for its first win over Baylor since a 5-2 victory in Waco in 1996. At the GRBTC, the Owls are 4-1 all-time, though their last home meeting ended in a 5-2 loss in 1998.
This season, Rice is 4-2 when winning the doubles point. Kabeer Kapasi leads the Owls with two clinch points, while Petro Kuzmenok and Rafael Botran have each contributed one.
PROMOTION
The first 150 fans in attendance will receive free pizza. Fans 21 and older can enjoy free hard seltzers and hard iced tea with a valid ID while supplies last, limited to three drinks per person and served one at a time.
