
Chancey, Jaeger Earn American Weekly Honors

IRVING – The No. 25 Rice soccer team grabbed two more weekly honors with Leah Chancey being named the American Offensive Player of the Week and Jadyn Jaeger being named the American Freshman of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Chancey continued her offensive production with another stellar week, leading Rice to 2-0 with two goals and two assists. She first scored the game-winning goal against Florida Atlantic and dropped one goal and two assists in a 3-1 win over Grambling.
She has scored a goal in six consecutive matches and has entered the Rice top 10 all-time lists for goals and points scored in 29 matches played at Rice.
This marks Chancey's fourth consecutive week earning a conference recognition, and her third offensive player of the week award. Chancey currently leads or is tied for the conference lead in assists per game, game winning goals, goals per game, points per game, shot accuracy, shots on goal per game and total assists, total goals and total points.
Jaeger helped guide the Rice offense to a 2-0 week, recording an assist against Florida Atlantic and netting the game-winning goal against Grambling State.
Jaeger currently has two goals and one assist on the season and becomes the sixth Owl to receive a conference honor this season.
Rice (7-1-1) resumes American Conference play Thursday night at Temple.
