Career-high 11 tackles at Charlotte
Rice senior linebacker Andrew Awe was named to the American Conference Honorable Mention list after racking up a career-high 11 tackles in the Owls' conference-opening win at Charlotte last Thursday.
Awe was credited with six solo stops and five assists to reach double figures for the first time in his career to help spark Rice to its first win in an American Conference opener and improve to 3-1 on the season for the first time since 2001.
He is the leading tackler on the conference's second-ranked defense through the first four games of the season, allowing 304 yards per game.
He is the second Owl to be honored this season by the conference. Running back Quinton Jackson received honorable mention honors after leading the Owls to a win in the season-opener at Louisiana.
