Chancey Earns American Offensive Player of the Week Honors

IRVING – Rice soccer graduate midfielder Leah Chancey was named the American Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Chancey had a pivotal role in leading the Owls to a 2-0 week, starting with scoring the game-tying goal against Oklahoma State. Chancey later assisted on the game-winning goal as the Owls defeated the Cowgirls 3-2 at Holloway Field.
She followed up that performance by scoring the game-winning goal on the road against Louisiana in Rice's 2-1 win. Chancey also recorded an assist on the other goal in the match.
Chancey was the 2024 American Offensive Player of the Year and started the 2025 season ranked in to TopDrawerSoccer Top 100 soccer players at No. 67.
Rice (4-1) continues its three-game road trip on Sunday night at Lamar.
