HOUSTON – The Rice soccer team fell behind early but responded in a huge way to defeat Oklahoma State 3-2 Thursday night in a hard-fought battle at Holloway Field. Rice moves to 3-1 on the season, while the Cowgirls fall to 2-2-1.
How It Happened
After Oklahoma State opened the game's scoring, Leah Chancey quickly tied things after rebounding her own penalty kick attempt and sending the ball to the back of the net the second time around. With just minutes till the half, Allie Love put the Owls ahead with another rebounded goal to give Rice a 2-1 lead at the half.
It didn't take long for Rice to strike again, as Piper Biziorek capitalized on a loose ball after several saves by OSU to tack on the third goal of the match for the Owls. The Cowgirls cut the deficit down to one with 15 minutes remaining, but a fierce defensive stance by the Owls sealed the win.
Post-Match Reaction: Head Coach Brian Lee
"Another fantastic night at Holloway. Right here, right now, there is no other place that we wanna be."
