Nation's most versatile player
Louisville, Ky. – Rice running back and kick returner Quinton Jackson is one of 46 FBS players who have been selected for the 2025 Paul Hornung Award Pre-Season Watch List.
Jackson was second on the Owls in 2024 with a career-best 933 all-purpose yards, highlighted by 589 yards on kickoff returns. He ranked third in the AAC and seventh nationally in KOR yardage and was third in the conference and 13th nationally with a 26.7 average per return, while his 589 yards were 10th best in school history. He set a school record with a 100-yard kickoff return at UConn, and combined with a receiving TD vs. Charlotte and a rushing TD in the season finale vs. USF, Jackson became the first Owl to have a touchdown rushing, receiving, and by kick return since James Sykes in 1976.
He was named to a pair of preseason All-American Conference teams as both a kick returner and running back. Athlon named him to its first team as a kick returner and on the third team as an all-purpose back while Phil Steele had him on his second team as a kick returner and third team as a running back.
Now in its 16th season, the Paul Hornung Award is given annually to the most versatile player in major college football by the Louisville Sports Commission in memory of the late football legend and Louisville native Paul Hornung. The winner and his family will be honored at the annual Paul Hornung Award dinner March 2026 at the Galt House Hotel in Louisville, Ky.
More information about the Award can be found at paulhornungaward.com.
