HOUSTON – The Rice women's track and field team saw several breakthrough showings at the Tom Tellez Invite this weekend at the University of Houston. The meet was shortened due to inclement weather on Saturday.

Julia Johannesdottir had several strong showings, finishing third in the 100m hurdles and also sixth in the long jump. Her time of 13.62 in the hurdles ranks fifth in the AAC and fifth all-time at Rice.

Saniya Friendly improved on her 100m mark, finishing fourth with a time of 11.67s, ranking fifth in the AAC.

Most of Saturday's running events and a few field events were canceled.
