
Women's Tennis Earns At-Large Bid to NCAA Tournament

HOUSTON - The Rice Owls women's tennis earned an at-large bid in the NCAA field of 64, earning the third seed in the College Station Regional.
It is Rice's 14th appearance in the NCAA tournament and 10th under head coach Elizabeth Schmidt. It is also the Owls' first appearance in the NCAA tournament since 2021.
Rice will match up with UC Santa Barbara in the 3 vs. 2 round, while regional host Texas A&M will take on Quinnipiac. The winners of those matches will meet the following day to determine who advances from the regional.
The College Station Regional is paired with the Charlottesville Regional, so the winners of the two regions will meet to determine who advances to the NCAA Championship in Waco, Texas.
Rice earned the at-large bid with a 17-6 record and a ranking of 43 in the most recent ITA rankings. In the AAC Championship, Rice earned a 4-1 win over Tulsa to avenge a regular season loss before falling to host sixth-seeded Memphis.
