Morrison Named 2025 Brigance Award Winner

Senior honored during Blue-Gray game
Linebacker Myron Morrison was announced as the winner of the 2025 O.J. Brigance Award at halftime of the Owls' annual Blue-Gray Spring Game on Saturday at Rice Stadium.
Created in 2009, by the R-Association and Brigance's teammates during his career at Rice, the Brigance Award is given annually to the Rice University football player who best represents and demonstrates the combined qualities of teamwork, good character, work ethic, and courageous leadership, which are the hallmark of the athletic and professional career of the former Owl, NFL player and team executive.
Morrison was a three-year starter for the Owls and a co-captain in 2023. He returned for his sixth season in 2024 his third as a starter at linebacker and posted a career-best grade of 91.4 from PFF vs. UTSA with five tackles and tied his career-high with two TFL. He was named to PFF's National Team of the Week vs. UTSA. He tied for fourth on the team with 6.0 TFL last season, .5 shy of his career-best set in 2022.
A two-time All-Southwest Conference selection at linebacker for the Owls, Brigance went on to win championships in both the CFL and NFL during his career. Brigance moved into the front office of the Baltimore Ravens after he retired as a player, serving as their Director of Player Development.
In 2007, it was announced that he was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) a motor neuron disease. Since that time, he has resolved to use the same drive and determination that drove him to success on the football field to win his fight against the disease, through the efforts of the Brigance Brigade Foundation.
