Rice to Face Charlotte in AAC Tournament

HOUSTON — Rice is the 12th-seed in this week's American Athletic Conference Tournament, to be played in Denton/Fort Worth, Texas, the league office announced Sunday evening.
The Owls (13-18) will face 13th-seed Charlotte (10-21) in the first round on Wednesday, Mar. 12 at 12 p.m., on ESPN+, at the Super Pit in Denton, Texas.
The teams split the season series, with Rice taking the first meeting in Houston, 68-55, before dropping a 78-75 decision in Charlotte.
Rice is 11-10 all-time against the 49ers. This will be the third meeting in conference tournament play, with both coming in the first round. Charlotte won the first meeting in the 2016 Conference USA Tournament, 79-69. Rice got its revenge in the 2022 C-USA Tournament with a 73-61 victory.
Rice is 22-44 all-time in conference tournaments. The Owls are 3-11 in conference tournaments against this year's field.
