
Owls Make Strides at Charlie Thomas Invite

COLLEGE STATION – The Rice women's track and field team continued their strong start to the season this weekend at the Charlie Thomas Invite at Texas A&M. Four athletes cracked the top-10 all-time lists (with one school record) for Rice while numerous finished with personal and season bests.
Saniya Friendly broke the Rice 60m all-time record during the prelims with a time of 7.33 seconds, surpassing Kennedy Gamble's mark of 7.36s set last season.
Riana Green and Saniya Friendly both jumped into the Rice top-10 list in the 200m, both finishing with sub 24.3-second marks.
Daphne Mayer had a great showing in the 5000m, finishing second in the race.
Over in the pentathlon, Julia Johannesdottir and Laura Duckhorn also moved into the Rice top-10 lists.
