HOUSTON - The Rice Owls men's tennis team returns to action to take on the Baylor Bears on Sunday, February 2, at 5 p.m. at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center.
This is the first time in nearly 15 years that Rice and Baylor have met on the courts. The two previously met in the NCAA Tournament in 2010, where seventh-seeded Baylor hosted Rice in the round of 32, with the Bears advancing in the tournament after a 4-0 victory over Rice.
Rice is 15-5 all-time against Baylor, but has fallen in the previous three meetings with the Bears. Prior that those losses, Rice had won the previous 10 matches between the two.
Rice comes into the weekend with a 3-2 record. The Owls won its first three matches against UTRGV and PVAMU, but fell to top-ranked Texas and Arkansas in the ITA Kickoff Weekend tournament in Austin. Baylor carries a 3-3 record after falling to #10 San Diego on Saturday, but will face New Mexico before playing Rice on Sunday.
