Rice and #22 North Texas meet at 6:30 on ESPNU
HOUSTON-Rice Football will salute the members of its senior class under the lights as the Owls' 2025 home season finale against #22 North Texas has been scheduled by the American Conference and ESPN for a 6:30 kickoff this Saturday, November 22.
The game between the Owls and Mean Green was one of four conference matchups held in a six-day window for possible placement on one of ESPN's platforms and was selected for national distribution on ESPNU.
This is the 14th meeting between the two schools, with North Texas leading 8-5, and the first as members of the American Conference. The Mean Green have won the last three meetings, including a 21-17 win in the most recent meeting in Denton in 2022. The Owls' last win in the series came on Senior Day in 2019, when they rallied for a 20-14 victory. North Texas leads the series at Rice Stadium 4-3.
Rice comes into the game having won two of its last three to improve to 5-5 in Dunlevie Family Head Football Coach Scott Abell's first season guiding the Owls. His five wins are tied with Al Conover and Ken Hatfield for the third-best mark by a first-year head football coach at Rice. North Texas is 9-1 overall and one of four American Conference teams with one conference loss heading into the final two weeks of the season.
