
Late Goals Leave Rice and Charlotte at a Draw

CHARLOTTE – The Rice soccer team secured a point on the road with a 1-1 draw against Charlotte Thursday night. The Owls move to 8-2-3 (2-1-3 American) while Charlotte is now 6-4-2 (2-1-2 American).
How It Happened
The Owls applied pressure on offense early, with Piper Biziorek firing a shot in the opening minutes, but the 49er keeper was there for the save. Olivia Duvall later had a chance, but her shot rattled off the crossbar. Both sides were scoreless at halftime.
Leah Chancey looked to snap the scoreless tie at the 60-minute mark, but once against Charlotte made the save. After fending off several Rice shots, Sophie Zhang broke through with her first goal of the season as Rice took the lead with 10 minutes remaining. The 49ers didn't back down however, tying the game with three and a half minutes remaining as the two sides settled for a draw.
