
Schwartzman Named AAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week

IRVING, Texas - Rice junior Darya Schwartzman was named the Women's Tennis Player of the Week by the American Athletic Conference after a 4-0 week at the No. 1 position in both singles and doubles.
Schwartzman continued her undefeated rein to begin the season, adding two singles victories and two doubles victories to her tally. On Thursday, the Owls swept Lamar, which included Schwartzman earning a 6-1, 6-1 victory at the No. 1 position in singles, as well as earning a 6-1 victory at the No. 1 position in doubles with partner Fernanda Martinez. On Saturday, baring a venue change and multiple pauses during the day, Schwartzman was able to overcome all obstacles and earn a 6-3, 6-0 victory in singles, as well as a 6-2 victory in doubles, both at the No. 1 position.
Women's tennis returns home this weekend to take on Arizona on Friday afternoon, followed by TCU on Saturday. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
