First pair of Owls selected since 1961
Chris Boswell and Jack Fox have been selected to participate in the 2025 NFL Pro Bowl, a week-long celebration of player skills in Orlando, Florida, highlighted by a flag football game between the AFC and NFC on February 2.
This marks the first time Rice has sent two players to the NFL's Pro Bowl since 1961, when J.D. Smith and Buddy Dial played in the game. Buddy Dial and Tobin Rote were named to the AFC Pro Bowl in 1963.
Boswell and Fox are the seventh and eighth Owls to be named to multiple Pro Bowls. Boswell played for the AFC in 2017, while Fox was named to the 2021 event, which was held virtually due to the pandemic.
Boswell leads the NFL in scoring with a career-high 153 points heading into the regular season finale vs. Cincinnati on Saturday. He has connected on an NFL-high 40 of 43 field goal attempts this season (93%). He has also been perfect on 33 extra point attempts. He has made 12 field goals of 50 or more yards this season.
He was named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his Week 11 performance when he accounted for all the scoring in the Steeler's 18-16 win over the Baltimore Ravens, hitting six field goals, including three from 50-plus yards. Boswell became the first Steelers kicker to hit three field goals of 50-plus yards when he did so against the Falcons, and now he is the only player to have done it twice as well. Boswell won AFC Special Teams Player of the Week in Week 1 against the Falcons and AFC Special Teams Player of the Month in September and October.
Fox leads the NFL in net punting average (46.3) and No. 2 in gross punting average (51.0) through 17 weeks. He has the highest gross punting average in NFL history at 48.8 yards over 276 career punts.
