Golf Looks to Continue Strong Start at the Ram Masters Invitational

HOUSTON — After a third-place finish last week at the season-opening Argent Financial Classic, the Rice Golf team looks to continue its strong play at the Ram Masters Invitational, Sept. 17-18, in Fort Collins, Colo.
TEAM FIELD
Joining Rice in the 15-team field are Boise State, UC Davis, UC Santa Barbara, Cal State-Fullerton, host Colorado State, Denver, Idaho, Long Beach State, Northern Colorado, Sacramento State, Utah Tech, Utah Valley, Valparaiso, and Wyoming.

THE LINEUP
Lukas Boandl – No. 1 position … leads the team with a 68.67 stroke average … won his first career tournament at the Argent Financial Classic (9/8-10), finishing -10 to become the fourth golfer in school history to shoot -10 or better in a tournament … tied the second lowest score in the first round when he fired a 65.
Reggie Zhu – No. 2 position … second on the team with a 73.00 stroke average … tied for 20th-place at the Argent Financial Classic (9/8-10) … AAC Golfer of the Week (2/21) … was second on the team last year with a 73.44 stroke average and nine rounds of par or better.
Daniel Zou – No. 3 position … is third on the team with a 73.67 stroke average … in his first career tournament, tied for 34th-place at the Argent Financial Classic (9/8-10), where he fired a 72 in the first round … led The Woodlands High School to a runner-up finish in the UIL Golf state championship as a sophomore ... earned two victories on the American Junior Golf Association Tour (AJGA), at the CT Pan Junior Championship, where he finished seven-under par, as well as the Dominican Junior Open...was fourth in the Class of 2024 for Texas in the Junior Golf Scoreboard rankings and 21st overall...was also third in Teas and 24th overall for the AJGA Rolex Rankings.
Jaivir Pande – No. 4 position … has a 75.67 stroke average … for 71st-place at the Argent Financial Classic (9/8-10) … saw action in seven events last year … had a stroke average of 75.85 … four rounds of par or better … had his best finish of the season at the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational, tying for 26th-place (10/28-29) … set a season-low for 36-hole score (144) … finished in 28th-place at the All-American Intercollegiate Individual tournament (3/18-19).
Blake Benson – No. 5 position … has a 76.00 stroke average … participated in nine events last year … had a 75.81 stroke average … three rounds of par or better … tied the lowest round of his career when he fired a final round 69 at the Louisiana Classics (3/12) … tied for 33rd-place at the Bentwater Intercollegiate (2/12-13) … tied for 34th-place at the All-American Intercollegiate (3/18-19).
PAIRINGS
The Owls will tee off from holes No. 9-10 starting at 10 a.m. CT. Rice will compete in groups with student-athletes from Cal-State Fullerton, Denver, and Idaho. Tuesday's tee times and pairings will depend on results following the previous round.
