
Owls Set for AAC Outdoor Championships

SAN ANTONIO – The Rice Owls women's track & field team heads to San Antonio this weekend for the 2024 AAC Outdoor Championships, hosted by UTSA. The three-day meet will begin on Friday, May 10, running through Sunday, May 12.
Rice will look to debut in the AAC where they left off last season in C-USA, as champions. Several event champions from last year's outdoor squad return, including Tara Simpson-Sullivan and Eliza Kraule. The Owls are coming off a second-place team finish at the AAC indoor meet.
The Owls currently have several athletes in the top 50 of their respective events in the NCAA: Mckyla Van der Westhuizen (5th – javelin), Alice Taylor (6th – high jump), Josie Taylor (13th – high jump), Tara Simpson-Sullivan (14th – hammer throw) and Kennedy Gamble (26th – 100m).
