
Swimming Places Four on CSC Academic All-District Team

HOUSTON, Texas — Rice swimming & diving placed four athletes on the 2023-24 Academic All-District® 7 Women's Swimming & Diving Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators. Lauren Brantley, Ella Dyson, Arielle Hayon and Elizabeth Myers were each awarded the distinction.
The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes swimming & diving honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA — for each gender.
Brantley posted a 3.76 GPA while double-majoring in business and sports medicine & exercise physiology. Also earning Rice Scholar-Athlete honors this season, Brantley reached the A final of both the 100- and 200-yard butterfly at the AAC Championships, placing eighth and fifth, respectively. Brantley also reached the A final of 200 Fly at the CSCAA National Invitational, finishing fifth.
Dyson compiled a 3.71 GPA with a major in business and was named to the Rice University FAR Academic and President's Honor Roll. Dyson repeated as AAC champion in the 1,650-yard freestyle this season, also finishing second in the AAC in the 500-yard freestyle. Dyson qualified for the NCAA Championships for the first time in her career and recorded finishes of 36th and 54th in the 1,650 and 500 Free, respectively. Dyson most recently competed at the USA Swimming Open Water Nationals, recording respective finishes of second and eighth in the 5K and 10K races.
Hayon registered a 3.78 GPA while majoring in managerial economics and organizational science. Named a Rice Scholar-Athlete this season, Hayon repeated as an AAC champion in the 100-yard butterfly and also finished on the podium in the 200 Fly, 200 IM and 400-yard medley relay. Qualifying for the NCAA Championships for the third consecutive year, Hayon recorded her best-ever finish at the NCAA Championships with a 34th-place finish in the 100 fly, also placing 47th in the 200 fly and 64th in the 200 IM.
Myers recorded a 3.74 GPA while double-majoring in computational & applied math and Spanish & Portuguese. Also earning Rice Scholar-Athlete honors this season, Myers reached the A final in every individual event she competed in at the AAC Championships, placing among the top five in the 200 free, 500 free and 200 fly and also placing third in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Myers also reached the A final of 200 Fly at the CSCAA National Invitational, and also reached the B final in both the 200- and 500-yard freestyle. Myers was also part of relay teams that finished eighth in the 400-yard freestyle relay and fourth in the 800-yard freestyle relay.
