
Women's Track & Field Hosts Victor Lopez Classic, Posts Four Titles

HOUSTON, Texas — The Rice women's track & field team hosted the 41st annual Victor Lopez Classic at Wendel D. Ley Track & Holloway Field. The Owls recorded 16 top-five finishes on the weekend, including four event titles.
Rice's events titles came from a pair each of track and field events. On the track, graduate senior Kennedy Gamble won the 100 meters with a time of 11.56, while freshman Alex Gobran won the 5,000 meters with a time of 17:16.31.
In track events, sophomore Alice Taylor won the high jump with a cleared height of 1.83 meters (6-0.00). In the throwing arena, senior Morgan Fey won the discus with a distance of 46.85 meters (153-08).
