
Swimming Scores Seven Top-Three Finishes at Sterkel Classic

In Brief: Rice swimming competed against No. 2-ranked Texas and TCU on Saturday at the Sterkel Classic, tallying one event victory and seven total top-three finishes during the competition.
The Details: Sophomore Ava Hamblett posted Rice's lone victory of the competition, winning the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:59.07. Hamblett also finished 3rd in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:06.35, placing behind senior Imogen Meers who placed second with a time of 2:03.20. Junior Arielle Hayon also posted a pair of top-three finishes in the butterfly, placing second in the 100-yard distance with a time of 54.39 and third in the 200-yard event with a time of 1:59.85. Junior Amelia Kane registered a third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:50.74. Graduate senior Shannon Campbell posted Rice's final podium finish of the day, placing third in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 16:40.65.
