
Swimming Set for AAC Championships

DALLAS, Texas — The Rice swimming team is set to compete for the AAC Championship on Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 22-25, in Dallas. The Owls will be competing against East Carolina, FIU, Florida Atlantic, North Texas, SMU and Tulane.
The Owls were ranked third in the AAC Pre-Championship Coaches Poll with 28 points behind FIU and SMU. The full results of the coaches poll are below. First-place votes are in parentheses.

Thursday
Session One - 5 p.m.
200-yard medley and 800-yard freestyle relays
Friday
Session Two (prelims) - 10:30 a.m. | Session Three - 6 p.m.
500-yard freestyle, 200-yard individual medley, 50-yard freestyle, 200-yard freestyle relay
Saturday
Session Four (prelims) - 10:30 a.m. | Session Five - 6 p.m.
400-yard IM, 100-yard Butterfly, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke, 100-yard backstroke, 400-yard medley relay.
Sunday
Session Six (prelims) - 10:30 a.m. | Session Seven - 5 p.m.
1,650-yard freestyle, 200-yard backstroke, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke, 200-yard butterfly, 400-yard freestyle relay.

The Owls
Rice is competing in its second-ever AAC Swimming & Diving Championships. The Owls placed fourth last season with 1136 total points. Houston won the conference championship with 1311.5 points, while FIU placed second with 1300 points. Rice posted four individual titles in 2023. Junior Arielle Hayon returns as the reigning champion in both the 100-yard and 200-yard butterfly, while sophomore Ella Dyson holds the title in the 1,650-yard freestyle. Former Owl Zoe Spitz won the title in the 100-yard backstroke.
Rice has won three conference championships in program history, claiming the Conference USA championship in 2011, 2013 and 2014.
