Owls Ready for AAC Indoor Championships

HOUSTON – The Rice Owls women's track & field team heads on the road to Birmingham, Ala., for the AAC Indoor Championships this weekend, starting on Friday morning. The two-day meet will conclude on Saturday afternoon.
In total, the Owls will have 23 athletes competing in 16 events.
The Owls have several athletes sitting atop the conference standings entering the championship meet. Tara Simpson-Sullivan enters with the top mark in the weight throw, while Morgan Fey sits sixth in shot put. Rice sits 2-3-4 in high jump from Josie Taylor, Eliza Kraule and Alice Taylor. Savannah Simms enters second in triple jump, with teammate Ginnie Okafor right behind in fourth.
Over on the track, Taigen Hunter-Galvan sits atop the conference in the 800m and in the mile. Kennedy Gamble enters the meet with the second fastest time in the 60m, and the eighth fastest time in the 200m.
Eliza Kraule also enters with the top score in the pentathlon, amassing 4276 points at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic.
