
Four Owls Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

GREENWOOD, Ind. - College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) has released its Academic All-District honors for the 2024 volleyball season, with four Rice Owls being named to the team.
The four Owls include Lola Foord, Darby Harris, Kaitlyn Knobbe, and Lademi Ogunlana.
LOLA FOORD
Foord concludes her Rice career with career-highs in several categories this season, including kills (176), kills per set (2.07), attempts (500), points (193), and points per set (2.27). Foord matched a career-high in kills with 17 against FAU in the AAC Semifinals. She set a new career-high in hitting percentage with .667 vs. Charlotte. Foord boasts several achievements in her academic career, including being a two-time Co-President of Rice's SAAC, Rice University Honor Athlete, several conference academic honors, and multiple President's Honor Roll designations. Foord also volunteered with the Houston Food Bank during the 2024 season.
DARBY HARRIS
Harris etched her name in the Rice record books with her 1,000th dig tallied during the AAC Quarterfinals against North Texas in November. For the 2024 season, Harris moved to a defensive specialist role and excelled, posting the second-most digs on the team at 290. The former CSC Academic All-District honor recipient has also earned a litany of other academic honors, including the Rice Scholar Athlete Award, President's Honor Roll, multiple conference academic honors, and has been named Rice Volleyball's Most Studious Award winner twice. Harris volunteered for several organizations for community service this season, including Achilles Houston, Belmont Village, and Star of Home.
KAITLYN KNOBBE
Knobbe wrapped up her collegiate career with career-highs this season in kills (192), kills per set (2.02), hitting percentage (.304), points (233), and points per set (2.45). She posted the 200th block of her career in a victory over North Texas in the AAC Quarterfinals in November. Knobbe has earned multiple academic honors through her career, including a previous CSC Academic All-District honor, an AAC All-Academic team honor, Rice FAR Academic Honor Roll honors, and Rice Honor Athlete honors. This season, she volunteered at the Memorial Park Conservancy here in Houston.
LADEMI OGUNLANA
Ogunlana made her mark on the Rice record books this season, becoming the first player in program history to post a perfect hitting percentage (minimum 10 attempts) in a victory over East Carolina in October. This season, she posted career-highs in several statistical categories, including kills (199), solo blocks (18), block assists (61), total blocks (79), blocks per set (0.89), points (257.5), and points per set (2.89). She was named AAC First Team All-Conference this season and finished with a top-30 nationally hitting percentage of .395. She has earned several academic honors through her career, including several conference honors and medals, Rice Honor Athlete Award, the Arthur Ashe Junior Sports Scholar Award, and Rice FAR Academic Honor Roll. This season, she volunteered at Bread of Life.
Harris, Knobbe, and Ogunlana will advacne to Academic All-American balloting, which will be announced on January 14, 2025.
