
Women's Tennis Pens Daniela Chica-Velasquez to 2025 Class

HOUSTON - Rice women's tennis head coach Elizabeth Schmidt has announced the signing of Daniela Chica-Velasquez to the 2025 class.
"We're looking forward to Dani joining the team," Schmidt said. "She loves to compete and has continued to develop and improve throughout her junior career. She will be a great addition to our program and we are excited for her to get on campus in August."
Chica-Velasquez hails from Miami, Florida, where she was a two-time J30 Champion, as well as a J60 Champion and a J100 Doubles Champion. Reaching as high as 381 in the ITF rankings, Chica-Velasquez earned several individual and team honors during her time at FLVS, including an MVP award, an Individual Doubles Champion designation, and was a two-time Team State Champion. The daughter of Carlos Chica and Veronica Velasquez, she has two sisters and will join the Owls in August 2025.
