The tandem became the ninth Rice men's duo to take part in the NCAA Individual Championships
WACO, Texas - The Rice tandem of Arthus de la Bassetiere and Kabeer Kapasi fell in the Round of 32 in the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championship on Wednesday afternoon at the Hurd Tennis Center in Waco, Texas.
The duo started at 3 p.m., taking on the fourth-seeded tandem of Luciano Tacchi and Luca Pow from Wake Forest. At a 2-2 tie in the first set, the duo from Wake Forest rattled off four-straight victories to take the first set. In the second set, both sides fought to a 4-4 tie, but Rice's duo fell as the Wake duo took the final two points to clinch the match and advance to the Round of 16.
Rice's fall season comes to a close in the NCAA Championship. De la Bassetiere and Kapasi became the ninth men's tandem to take compete in the NCAA Championship for Rice.
