Swim and Dive Heads Across Town for Phill Hansel Invitational
11/19/2024 3:33:00 PM | Swimming & Diving
HOUSTON - The Rice Owls swim and dive teams will not have to travel far for their next meet, taking part in the Phill Hansel Invitational at the University of Houston Natatorium, beginning on Wednesday, November 20.
"We look forward to competing in a "Championship format" meet," said head coach Seth Huston. "It will be a great opportunity to compete against a strong field and see how our team responds to 3 days of competing in preliminaries and finals each day."
The participating teams include Air Force, Florida Gulf Coast, Houston, Nevada, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Rice, and San Jose State.
In the swimming events, there will be five heats with the A, B, and C finals being the ones that are scored. In the diving events, there will be finals scoring for the top eight divers, then consolation scoring for the next eight divers.
Every day will follow a set schedule that will begin with Swimming Prelims before transitioning to Diving Prelims and Diving Consolation Finals. After a built-in break in the scheduling, the Swimming Finals (excluding final relay), Diving Championship Finals, and Final Relay Finals will conclude the day's action.
Results and recaps will be posted every day to RiceOwls.com
