Women's Tennis Continues Competition at ITA Texas Women's Regional Championship

FORT WORTH, Texas - The Owls continued to compete and earned one win during Sunday's action at the ITA Texas Women's Regional Championship on the campus of TCU in Fort Worth, Texas.
The final doubles tandem was knocked out of the quarterfinals as Darya Schwartzman ad Fernanda Martinez fell to the duo of Otway and Pascual from TCU by a final score of 8-3.
In singles action, Martinez earned a win against Skelton from SMU by a final of 6-2, 6-4, taking her down in the consolation round of 16. However, in the consolation quarterfinals, she fell to Hlahola from Texas Tech, 7-6 (7-5), 6-1. Valentina Ponce is now the only Owl remaining in cometiton in Fort Worth.
Action will continue from Fort Worth on Monday, October 14, as Valentina Ponce is scheduled to take on Felicia Back. Stay tuned to RiceOwls.com for more updates.
