HOUSTON — Rice golf coach Justin Emil announced on Thursday the addition of graduate transfer Nicholas Li (Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada/Trinity) for the 2023-24 school year.
"Nick has the ability to add an immediate impact with his maturity and experience," said Emil. "He proved that with his leadership as team captain at Trinity. He's a powerful player with an extremely high ceiling and is aiming to take his game beyond college, into the professional ranks."
Li comes to South Main after spending the last four seasons at Trinity (N.H.) College. Last year, he earned First Team All-NESCAC honors after leading the squad with a 74.14 stroke average. He recorded four top ten finishes and three top three finishes, including victories at the Bowdoin and Dr. Tim Brown Invitationals. He followed that with a second-place finish at the Bill Detrick Invitational. He added four rounds of par or better and three rounds in the 60's, including a season-best 66 in the final round of the Dr. Tim Brown Invitational.
In his career, his averaged 76.51 strokes per round and recorded 14 top 20 and five top 10 finishes.
Li joins Braeden Hoyt (Houston, Texas), Jaivir Pande (Houston, Texas) and Reggie Zhu (Winter Garden, Fla.) in the 2023-24 recruiting class.
