George R. Brown Tennis Center: Maria Budin, Darya Schwartzman and Saara Orav each won in straight sets, but Rice could not overcome the loss of the doubles point as South Florida took a 4-3 decision on Friday afternoon.
Doubles: The Bulls jumped out to early advantages at the first and third lines and did not allow the Owls an opportunity to rally to take a 1-0 lead.
Singles: In need of four singles wins to take the match, the Owls started fast by taking four of six first sets. Budin raced to a straight-set win at the fifth line to improve to a team-leading nine singles wins in dual action (9-5). Schwartzman allowed Rice to the match 2-2 with with a straight-set win at the fourth line, her sixth win in her last seven decisions. Orav rallied from being down 4-3 in her second set to win 6-4 and move the Owls to within one point of the win. But USF closed things out by winning the only three-set match of the day to win their seventh straight match.
