Jablonski, Lettenberger, Qian and Spitz
Kate Jablonski, Ahalya Lettenberger, Ginny Qian, and Zoe Spitz have been named to be named to the 2022-23 Academic All-District® 7 Women's Swimming & Diving Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators. All four will be placed on the ballot to determine the 2022 CSC Academic All-America® to be announced in mid March.
The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes swimming & diving honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA — for each gender.
This is the second time that Lettenberger has earned All-District 7 honors and the first honor for Jablonski, Quian and Spitz.
Spitz compiled a 3.96 GPA as a double major in Economics and History and is a four-time recipient of the C-USA Commissioner's Academic medal while re-writing the Rice record book in the backstroke events. She set records in both the 100 and 200 events on multiple occasions during the year and was the first student-athlete at Rice to earn honors from The American Athletic Conference when she was named the Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week in October. She won the AAC 100 backstroke title in February and swam the opening leg of the Owls' school record 400 medley relay team at the conference championship to add a third school record to her resume.
Jablonski has posted a 3.85 GPA as a Sport Management major at Rice and is a two-time recipient of the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal and a four-time member of the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll in addition to being a two-time Rice Honor Athlete. She concluded her career at Rice by posting career-best times in the 50, 100, and 200 freestyles and the 100 butterfly.
Lettenberger, who carries a 3.97 GPA in Bioengineering, is a four-time recipient of the C-USA Commissioner's Academic medal and was named Rice's Scholar-Athlete if the Year in 2021. She set her second American Paralympic record in the S6 100 Breaststroke at the Texas A&M Last Chance meet last weekend, dropping her own previous best time by over a second to 1:31.16. She also holds the record in the S7 400 IM. She has represented America at a pair of World Paralympic Swimming Championships, winning a silver (2019) and bronze (2022) medal in the S7 400 meter freestyle and at the Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020 where she won silver in the S7 200 IM.
Quian will graduate with a degree in Sports Medicine & Exercise Physiology and has posted a .382 GPA while earning a pair of C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medals. She was a 10-time conference finalist in her career in the distance freestyle and 400 IM and also a two-time conference medalist as a member of the Owls' 800 freestyle relay.
