McDougall and Cramer pick up wins
RESULTS
In Brief: Zoe Spitz lowered her school record in the 200 back and Lauren McDougall and Lily Cramer also won events as Rice closed out its regular season on Saturday at The Sterkel Classic in Austin, Texas.
The Details: Spitz won the 200 backstroke in 1:55.01, dropping her school record by .76 in the process. Cramer won the 200 IM in 2:02.71 and McDougall captured the 200 freestyle in 1:47.65 during the time-trial event against swimmers from Texas and TCU. Senior Ginny Qian lowered her personal best in the 1,650 freestyle by over 13 seconds, finishing fourth in 16:45.99.
Seth Huston: "We had some great performances today, but we were way too inconsistent from what I expect from the team at this point in the season. Zoe dropped some more time in her school record 200 back and Ginny had a great 1650 in a career-best. Overall, our team learned something about being prepared and being a great competitor."
Up Next: The Owls have one week of training left in preparation for their inaugural appearance in The American Athletic Conference Swimming Championship, which gets underway on Wednesday, February 15 at SMU's Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center and Barr McMillion Natatorium in Dallas.
