2023 Football Schedule Released
The American Athletic Conference released its 2023 football schedule on Tuesday, and Rice will make its conference debut on September 23, 2023, on the road against USF and hosts ECU one week later in the Owls' first AAC home game.
The eight-game conference slate features seven games on Saturday in addition to a Thursday night road game at Tulsa on October 19. The conference also notified Rice that the 42nd Bayou Bucket with Houston could potentially be moved up from Saturday, September 8 to Friday. Kickoff times, broadcast assignments, and special events such as Families Weekend and Homecoming 2023 will be released at a future date.
Information on joining the lineup of season ticket members for Rice Football will be released soon. Current season ticket members will receive an email with further information on the renewal process. Those interested in locking in new season tickets for the Owls' historic first season in the American can guarantee the best seats by placing a season ticket deposit or by filling out the season ticket request form. With demand expected to be high for the inaugural season in the American and the first seven-game home slate at Rice Stadium since 1990, this will ensure priority access to season tickets once the renewal campaign has concluded.
The Owls open the 2023 season with non-conference games at Texas and at home versus Houston and Texas Southern before their first two AAC games against USF and ECU. Rice wraps up its non-conference schedule the following week when it hosts UCONN on October 7, followed by an open week and the Thursday night road game at Tulsa.
The schedule continues with back-to-back home games renewing the series with long-time rivals Tulane (October 28) and SMU (November 4) before it concludes with three games against former C-USA foes as Rice travels to UTSA on November 11 and Charlotte on November 18 before wrapping up the regular season by hosting FAU at Rice Stadium on November 25.
The American Football Championship game will be held on December 2.
