10/5/2023 9:42:00 PM | Women's Soccer
HOUSTON – The Owls defense gave the Tigers problems throughout the night, but #10 Memphis was able to find the offense for a 2-0 win Thursday night at Holloway Field.
How It Happened
The Tigers tried to apply pressure early, with back-to-back shots just two minutes into the match, but Hannah Pimentel was there to make the diving save on the shot and rebound to keep things scoreless. A few minutes later, Ellen Halseth looked to get the Owls on the board, but her shot fell right into the arms of the waiting keeper. The Tigers broke through at the 22:58 mark with Anna Hauer's fourth goal of the season. Memphis looked to double its lead with five minutes left in the half, but Pimentel was there again as the Owls went into halftime down 1-0.
Natalie Gorji had a chance to tie the match early in the second half, but once again, Kaylie Bierman was in position to make the save. After fending off the Tiger attack for most of the second half, Memphis broke through again with seven minutes left in the game to take a 2-0 victory.
