Balandran, Gunnarsdottir Highlight Strong Showing At UH

HOUSTON – The Rice women's track and field team had another successful meet Friday, taking two events at the Houston Invitational at the University of Houston's Yeoman Fieldhouse.
Alyssa Balandran won the 800-meter run, claiming an event title in back-to-back weeks at UH, while Erna Gunnarsdottir took the top spot in the shot put. Outside of Balandran, Rice also had two more top five finishers in the 800, while also having three top 10 finishers in the mile.
As a team, Rice had 17 top-10 finishes in the meet with 11 finishing in the top five.
