Women’s T&F Back In Action At UH

HOUSTON – The Rice Owls women's track & field team heads back to the University of Houston tomorrow for the Robert Platt Invitational at Yeoman Fieldhouse. The invitational is set to begin at 2:00 p.m.
In total, the Owls will have 32 athletes competing in 14 events. Schools aside from Rice and Houston competing are Central Arkansas, Houston Christian, Lamar, Prairie View, SFA, St. Thomas, TAMU-Kingsville, TAMU-Corpus-Christi, Texas Southern, UTRGV and UTSA.
The Owls opened the season a week ago at UH and saw several highlight performances, with Ginnie Okafor taking first place in triple jump. Tara Simpson-Sullivan and Julie Perez finished third and sixth, respectively, in weight throw while Morgan Fey finished fourth in shot put.
Rice also saw success in the running events last week as two Owls cracked the top 10 in the mile, with Caitlin Wosika and Lina Spjut finishing sixth and ninth. Kennedy Gamble also took home a seventh-place finish in the 60-meter dash.
