HOUSTON, Texas — Rice Soccer head coach Brian Lee has announced the addition of graduate transfer Madi Allen for the 2022 season.
"Madi is a proven winner who played a major role on 2 SEC championship teams at Vanderbilt," said Lee. "Her skill set and analytic profile are a great fit for what our team needs to take another step forward this fall."
Allen joins the Owls after spending the last four years at Vanderbilt, where she helped the Commodores to three NCAA Tournament appearances and two SEC Championships.
The Oviedo, Fla. native started 16 of 18 matches this year, recording her only goal in a 5-0 victory over Southern Illinois while playing a season-high 90 minutes against Ole Miss. In her career, Allen played in 64 matches.
A two-time state champion at Oviedo High School, Allen was a 2017 Esmark High School All-American while earning TopDrawerSoccer All-State and All-Region honors. She was also named Player of the Year by the Orlando Sentinel and Spectrum Sports.
Allen was also a standout off the field, twice earning SEC Academic Honor Roll. She'll join Rice's MBA program.
"I'm so grateful for the opportunity to pursue a Master's degree at Rice," said Allen. "I couldn't be more excited to compete for such a great program and staff that share my values of academic and athletic excellence."
The remaining 2022 signing class will be announced at a later date.
