Golf in Good Position Heading into Final Round of Stroke Play at C-USA Championship

Texarkana, Ark. — The Rice golf team is in fourth-place heading into the final round of stroke play at the Conference USA Championship.
The Owls are three-over par, two strokes behind third-place UTSA, and three strokes in front of Charlotte and Louisiana Tech for fifth-place. The top four teams after stroke play will advance to the semifinals of Match Play.
Freshman Raghav Chugh is in line for his fourth straight top ten finish, sitting in a tie for 10th-place at one-under par after carding a second round 74.
Seniors Jake Benson and Jack Diamond are tied for 22nd-place at one-over par. Benson posted a 72 while Diamond shot a 74. Benson's 72 is his eighth round of par or better this year and the 50th of his career, becoming just the second Rice golfer since 1991 with at least 50 rounds of par or better in their career.
Senior Harrison Hineline posted a 75 to sit in a tie for 27th-place at two-over par and junior Thomas Bockholt III is tied for 43rd-place at six-over par after carding a 76.
NEXT UP
The final round begins tomorrow at 8 a.m. CT. Rice will tee off at 8:40 a.m. and is paired with student-athletes from Charlotte.
