Golf Duo in Top 10 at Bayou City Collegiate Classic

Montgomery, Texas — Freshman Raghav Chugh and senior Jack Diamond are in the top 10 heading into the final round of the Bayou City Collegiate Classic.
Chugh is in seventh-place at one-over par after carding a 72-73. The opening 72 was his team-leading 13th round of par or better this year. Diamond opened with a 75 before coming back to fire a 71, tying his season-low, to sit in a tie for eighth-place at two-over par. It is his second round of par or better this year and the fifth of his career.
Senior Jake Benson is seven-over par in a tie for 37th-place after rounds of 75-76. Junior Forrest Park posted rounds of 80-77 to sit 13-over par in a tie for 61st-place and senior Harrison Hineline is tied for 76th-place at 17-over par after rounds of 84-77.
Playing as an individuals, Thomas Bockholt III is tied for 30th-place at six-over par. He began the day with a 79 before battling back to fire a 71, his fifth round of par or better this year and the 10th of his career. Redshirt freshman Blake Benson is 19-over par in a tie for 81st-place, carding rounds of 86-77 and senior Austin Escamilla posted consecutive 83's to sit in a tie for 86th-place.
The Rice golf team is in sixth-place at 23-over par after posting rounds of 302-297, one stroke behind Jacksonville State for fifth-place.
Sam Houston and Florida Atlantic lead the team competition at 11-over par, one stroke in front of third-place Abilene Christian. FAU's Alex Maguire leads the individual competition at five-under par, three strokes in front of UT-Arlington's Paul Gonzalez and Garrison Smith of New Mexico State.

The final round begins tomorrow at 8 a.m. CT. Rice will tee off from the first hole and is paired with student-athletes from Denver, Jacksonville State and Utah Valley.
