3/9/2022 6:50:00 PM | Swimming & Diving
Meet runs Thursday through Saturday
In Brief: Rice will send a full complement of 12 swimmers to the eighth CSCAA National Invitational, which begins competition on Thursday at the Elkhart Health and Aquatics Center in Elkhart, Indiana
The Details: The NIC was created to provide an event for those Division I swimmers and divers who were not selected for the NCAA Division I Championships as well as conference champions and any individual or relay team who equals or surpasses the CSCAA 'A' standard. Each participating school is limited to no more than 12 competitors.
Owls in the NIC: Rice captured the team title in 2014 and placed second in 2015, 2018 and 2019. Rice stood in fifth place after the first day of competition in 2020 before the remainder of the meet was canceled as part of the national shut down due to the pandemic. There was no event held last year.
Seth Huston: "This is our postseason and I am really looking forward to seeing our team test themselves against some of the top swimmers in the country. There was so much depth in swimming this year because of all the fifth-years competing and it shows when you look at the psych sheet for this meet. It's easily the most competitive meet since we initiated it. I feel like our team is well prepared and excited for this opportunity."
Up Next: Rice freshman Arielle Hayon will compete in the 100 and 200 butterfly events at the NCAA Championship next week in Atlanta, Georgia.
