Budin and El Jardi Earn C-USA Honor

Doubles team nabs weekly award
Maria Budin and Diae El Jardi have been named the Conference USA Women's Tennis Athletes of the Week on the strength of their Sunday win over the third-ranked doubles team in the country. All weekly awards are presented by Surf & Turf Golf.
Budin and El Jardi handed Texas A&M's Jayci Goldsmith and Tatiana Markarova their first loss of the year, with a 7-1 win in the tiebreaker which set the stage for the Owls to take the point. This marks the duo's fifth career win over a ranked opponent and their first against a doubles team inside the top 40. The victory set the stage for a win at the third line to give the Owls the doubles point against the seventh-ranked Aggies.
This is the second straight week the Owls have earned the weekly honor. Freshman Allison Zipoli earned the honor last week.
