In Brief: Rice closed out its spring break swing through Virginia by dropping a 4-0 decision to Conference USA foe Old Dominion on Wednesday in Norfolk, Virginia.
Doubles: ODU seized the early advantage with a swift win at the first line but the deciding second was in doubt until the Monarchs emerged with a 6-4 win at the second line.
Singles: The Monarchs kept the pressure on taking five of six first sets in singles. Haoyuan Huang and Wes Barnett responded by forcing third sets and Campbell Salmon took his first set and was leading in the second, but ODU closed out the match with wins at the third, fourth and fifth lines.
Up Next: The Owls will be back in action on Sunday at home when they host 19th ranked Middle Tennessee at 11 a.m. Sunday as part of a combined dual with the Rice women's team who will host Tulane.
