In Brief: A loss in doubles proved to be the key as Rice dropped a 4-2 decision to UTA at the George R. Brown Tennis Center on Saturday.
Doubles: After falling behind with a loss at the second line, Rice rallied to send the two remaining courts to tiebreakers only to see the Mavericks grab the point.
Singles: In need of four points in singles, the Owls swiftly found a pair as Haoyuan Huang and Adam Oscislawski each raced to quick wins, but UTA took three first sets on the remaining four courts and the Owls could not overcome the deficit. Huang's win was his eighth straight and his ninth in 10 appearances at the first line.
Up Next: The Owls will travel to Virginia during the week of Spring Break with matches at Richmond on Monday and ODU on Wednesday before returning home next Sunday to host Middle Tennessee.
