Rice blanks Richmond
In Brief: Rice opened a two-match road swing in Virginia on Monday by blanking Richmond 7-0 at the Westhampton Tennis Center in Richmond, Virginia.
Doubles: Rice took the early advantage and Eduardo Morais and AJ Valenty race to a 6-1 win at the third line. Wes Barnett and Trinity Grear laid claim to the opening point for the Owls with a 6-4 win at the second line while Campbell Salmon and Sumit Sarkar were leading 5-4 at the first line.
Singles: Rice dropped only 12 games over six courts on the way to sweeping the first sets. Emir Sendogan (6-1, 6-1), Barnett (6-2, 6-2), and Grear (6-0, 6-3) kept up the pressure to swiftly secure the clinching points. Haoyuan Huang improved to 13-3 on the dual season, including a 10-1 mark at the first line, by capturing his ninth straight singles win, while Adam Oscislawski and Salmon rounded out the sweep for the Owls.
