Hayon captures 100 fly title
In Brief: Arielle Hayon became the fifth Rice Owl in history to capture a CSCAA National Invitational individual event title while her teammates improved on their morning efforts to add additional points to the Owls team total to highlight action on the second day of action in Elkhart, Indiana. The Owls stand in fifth place after 15 events.
The Details: The tone of the night was set in the first individual event of the evening as Amelia Kane improved from ninth to seventh in the 400 IM while Erin Vance moved from 15th to 12th in the consolation final. Hayon ran down the field over the final 25 yards to add the CSCAA 100 butterfly title to her C-USA championship she capture two weeks earlier. In the final race of the night, Imogen Meers capped the evening of improvements by moving from ninth to seventh in 100 back while Zoe Spitz was 16th. Rice added a second podium finish on the night when the 800 free relay team finished third.
Seth HustonI: "I'm really happy with how the team responded for finals. We had a good morning and an even better night."
The Standings: Ohio State (542) moved into the lead on Friday, followed by FIU (484), Tennessee (415.5), Akron (393.5), and Rice (367) rounding out the top five.
