In Brief: Rice closes out a season-opening stretch of six home matches on Sunday when the Owls host Louisiana at noon at George R. Brown Tennis Center. Rice Tennis has designated Sunday at Roger Tower Day at GRBTC to salute the longtime supporter of Rice Athletics.

The Owls: Rice is 4-1 after sweeping UTRGV and Trinity last Saturday. Emir Sendogan and Trinity Grear each improved to 5-0 with a pair of singles wins while Campbell Salmon improved to 4-0 and Haoyuan Huang to 4-1.
Louisiana: Comes into the weekend with a 3-1 record and will face Texas A&M Corpus Christi at GRBTC on Saturday. They opened the season by defeating Abilene Christian and then fell to UTSA by identical 6-1 scores. They swept a doubleheader at home last weekend, downing Tyler JC 6-1 and Xavier 4-0. This will be the 24th meeting between the Owls and the Ragin Cajuns, with Rice holding a 16-7 lead in the series. The schools have met each year since 2013, with Rice taking a 4-0 decision at GRBTC last season. Rice leads the series at GRBTC, 5-2.
Roger Tower Day: Rice Tennis will salute Roger Tower on Sunday in recognition of his tireless support of Rice Athletics. After moving to Texas in the 1970's, Tower worked in environmental compliance for over 25 years prior to his retirement in 2000. Along the way, he became an ardent supporter of Rice Athletics. Since his retirement, he has attended almost every Rice Athletics event and holds season tickets for nearly every sport possible. First at Jake Hess and now at GRBTC, Tower is a familiar face in the stands not only at match time, but prior to matches. He was presented the R Association's Spirit Award at the 2009-2010 Night of the Owl event and an Honorary R last fall at the Rice Athletics Hall of Fame Inductions.

Up Next: Rice hits the road next week to travel to Austin and face Texas on Friday at 5 p.m. The Owls return to GRBTC next Sunday to host ACU, their final home match in February.
