HOUSTON - Rice Track and Field heads to Birmingham, Ala. this weekend for the 2022 Conference USA Indoor Championships, which will run Saturday and Sunday at the Birmingham CrossPlex, hosted by UAB.
Championship action begins Saturday, Feb. 19, with the heptathlon starting at 9 a.m., followed shortly by the first event of the pentathlon. The first event on Sunday will start at 8: 30 a.m. beginning with the conclusion of the men's heptathlon. Both days will be streamed for free on CUSAtv.
The Rice women are currently ranked 9th in the most up to date USTFCCCA South Central Regional rankings and will have 26 athletes competing in 17 events throughout the weekend. The Owls currently possess the top marks in C-USA in the distance medley relay (11:49.67), the shot put (Erna Gunnarsdottir-16.90m), the weight throw (Tara Simpson-Sullivan-21.32m), and the pentathlon (Eliza Kraule-3648 pts).
