El Jardi Earns C-USA Honor for November

Women's Tennis Athlete of the Month
Rice's Diae El Jardi has been named the final winner of the Conference USA Women's Tennis Athlete of the Month award thanks to her undefeated performance in the Owls' final fall action. This is the first monthly conference award for El Jardi who has twice been honored in the spring with the weekly accolade.
El Jardi posted an undefeated weekend in singles at the Rice Fall Invitational from November 3-5. She defeated Elena Trencheva (Houston) 6-1, 6-4, Paula Jimenez, Ana (UT Arlington) 6-4, 6-2, and Tina Li (BYU) 6-1, 7-6, all in straight sets. El Jardi also went 2-1 in doubles during the Fall Invitational.
She closed the fall tournament campaign with a career-best 8-2 record in singles and added a 7-4 record in doubles.
The Owls will open their 2023 dual season on January 21 when they host Lamar at the George R. Brown Tennis Center.
