
Hayon's Record Swim Caps Owls Efforts at Hansel Invitational

In Brief: Arielle Hayon lowered her school record in the 200 butterfly and joined with Lauren McDougall in winning her third event of the meet to highlight action for Rice on the final day of the 2022 Phill Hansel Invitational at the University of Houston's CRWC Natatorium on Saturday.
The Details: Hayon won the 200 fly in 1:56.64, bettering her C-USA championship-winning time of 1:57.13. McDougall added a win in the 100 free to her earlier wins in the 200 and 500 distances. Zoe Spitz, who broke the Rice 100 back record twice during the meet, made it a sweep of the backstroke events with a win in the 200 back while teammate Imogen Meers was third.. Ella Dyson captured the 1,650 free while Shannon Campbell was second and Amelia Kane was fourth. Hayon, McDougall, Mears, and Spitz wrapped up their weekend's work by combining to win the 400 freestyle relay.
Seth Huston: "The team poured themselves into the meet this weekend. We challenged the team to step up and compete a lot over the weekend and see how they could handle it. We finished strong today. I think we are in a great place at the midpoint of the season."
