Spitz Sweeps Backstroke Events at A&M

McDougall adds win in 100 free
In Brief —Senior Zoe Spitz swept the backstroke events while fellow senior Lauren McDougall pulled away from the field to win the 100 freestyle but No. 16 Texas A&M swept the remaining events to post a 156-101 dual victory over Rice at the Aggies' Rec Center Natatorium on Saturday.
Details—Spitz won the 100 and 200 backstrokes and added a third-place finish in the 100 butterfly, one spot behind teammate Arielle Hayon. McDougall added a second in the 200 free and a third in the 50. The Owls also collected top-three finishes from Ava Hamblett who was third behind Spitz in the 200 back, Sini Koivu (second) and Lily Cramer (third) in the 200 breaststroke, Ella Dyson (second) and Ginny Qian (third) in the 500 free and Amelia Kane (second) and Katherine Sammy (third) in the 200 IM.

Up Next—After the completion of final exams, the Owls will compete in the CSCA Open Water National Championship in Boca Raton, Florida on December 18 and then at the FAU Winter Invitational on December 20.
